Oil paintings are still a very popular and common way for painters to express themselves. The styling of the painting depends entirely on the artist, but there are some themes. Some artist choose to express themselves through the texture of the oil painting. The overall feel of the art is more interesting and appealing with the feel of the paint. The texture brings you into the strokes of the artist’s brush and allows you to see into the art of making art, as opposed to just the finished product. The medium that most oil paintings choose is a canvas. Generally, they pop out to create more emphasis on the paper. There is no frame that the picture, image, design, or abstract is always the focus without alteration. Depending on where it is hung, the image can be the focal point of the room or a distraction from the other areas. The purpose of this art, just like others is to inspire, provoke, or generally make the viewer think. The purpose, just like the style varies with the artist and the mood of the oil paintings is generally directly representative of the personality and character of the artist at the time of the painting.
